Republicans Admit Voter-ID Laws Are Aimed at Democratic Voters
by http://www.thedailyb...lle-bouie.html] Jamelle Bouie

Aug 28, 2013 4:45 AM EDT

Its been clear for a while that the voter-identification laws the GOP has been pushing are aimed at suppressing Democratic constituencies. And Republicans are fessing up, says Jamelle Bouie.
Article: http://www.thedailyb...tic-voters.html

Yet, the voting numbers in states with ID Laws show an increase in minority voting. Apparently this grand scheme is a failure on the part of the GOP.

Wouldn't you agree LisaB?

Reply to: Suppose Cooch had won and Terry refused to call to congratulate him: post #40

You think this was the first nasty campaign in history? Presidential candidates go after each other's throats, but on election night the loser calls the winner and congratulates him. What kind of people are there out there who are saying "let's say to hell with civility, with the way things have always been, and just keep the war going no matter what?" Just what the hell is this?

Re your SC saying you can't ban contraceptives, they've also said you can't ban guns. And what do Republicans do, every election? "If you elect that Democrat, he'll take away your guns!"

Maybe more refusals to congratulate would result in cleaner campaigns that focus on the issues. Again I live here. I saw the ads. The democrat ads were far worse and more numerous. To include the robo calls.

Your opinion is most likely driven by the fact that your preferred candidate lost in a fair election. Get used to it.

Your post is mostly driven by your knee jerk reaction to one post of mine. You apparently have not read my initial posts on other threads concerning this topic.

No. The rethuglicans are incapable of winning fair elections because reasonable people reject their vile ideology, so they are compelled to enact constitutionally illegal legislation in the states they control to prevent their political opponents from voting.

Again, with the blessing of SCOTUS, minority voter increases in states with the law show that if indeed the intent was to suppress the vote it certainly failed and your position has been proven false.

And there it is.

And their obedient stooges snigger and cheer at the violation of democracy.

While disingenuously claiming to support it.

Of course for this women it could initially be called a success. But this "success" story is really a better point for the critics. The insurance company is taking a loss. They HOPE to recoup this loss by the mandates that have jacked up premium prices for those who are not subsidized.

Nothing there, except agitprop and propaganda. Like the contents of your skull.

Only five people have fully completed the enrollment process in the D.C. insurance exchange, according to information compiled by lawmakers from four of the insurance companies participating in the exchange.

How hard can it be to obtain the required ID?

Noemi Barboza pleaded guilty on Thursday to "a bribery conspiracy charge, admitting that she often drove illegal immigrants to the Fairfax DMV location where an employee would approve their applications for drivers licenses, learners permits, and identification cards knowing they could not prove legal presence in the United States." Four people engaged in the scheme from 2007 to 2011. The fourth person has not yet been charged.

Actually I think they're sayin' black folksare basically dumber and lack the skills to get a free ID. I don't cotton to no racism.

And dem black folk sure proved what idiots the anti id crowd are with the increased minority turn out in 2010 and 2012 in areas with strict voter ID laws.

You do what feels comfortable for you but, does it have to be one or the other? Is a decision to believe or not believe necessary? In the absence of evidence to prove or disprove, isn't the most reasonable attitude the one that says "I don't know"?

Not as long as you don't attempt to impose your belief on me through any form of government policy. I would tell an atheist the same thing, if I caught them trying to change policies that put restrictions on the right to religious worship.

Yet you choose to support ideology that forces your beliefs on others. Odd, don't ya think?

Yay! Destroy a hundred lives to help one deadbeat. That's Obamas legacy.

I wouldn't call her a dead beat but the story does prove the point of the ACA critics much to dano's dismay.

If FoxNews reports it, it must be true.

There's a storm raging through the Phillipines with winds topping out at 200 mph and FoxNews finds Obamacare signups to be so much more newsworthy.

I posted the story from politico on the thread started about this. Are you saying politico is wrong? Would you like to move over to the thread on this topic?

You should really do some internet research before you stick your foot in your mouth. The internet is a great tool for those who have the intelligence to use it.

If it isn't, why are some Republicans coming out and saying its intent is to disenfranchise minorities?

Again, how is it disenfranchising minorities when in the areas where the strictest voter ID laws are enacted displayed there was an INCREASE in minority voting in the 2010 and 2012 elections? How did all of the minorities find a way to vote with such racist policies?

Libs are afraid to answer that. And I don't give a fck what republicans say because I am not one them.

I have no set or unretractable beliefs. I'm a mind in flux, a soul in transit. My opinion today could alter tomorrow, based on new information. I voice the opinions I have at the time. I don't support any ideology that would force anything on anyone unless the anyone was acting in a manner that was injurious or harmful to others. I support reasonable laws enacted to protect the public from dangerous people, for just that reason, yet cringe at any law that constrains an individual's freedom.

There are certain basic humanist ideals I try to live up to and I support measures that promote those humanist ideals.

All my ideals are secular in nature and completely in tune with the ideals the Constitution and the International Bill of Human Rights were written to support and promote.

I do no forcing or arm twisting. I prefer persuasion.

So unless you care to point out something specific you think I support, like paying to live in a first world country with all the bennies that status gives us, or the modicum of responsibility we as civilized humans should accept towards other less fortunate humans, I'll be glad to debate them with you, as I have in the past.

.

Your support of the ACA and the employer mandate.

I removed your false, and angry, snippets that do not reflect my mood or temperament. You could say I removed your troll like comments. Wink wink
