Im sure you dont recall any memories before your birth. Thats because your consciousness did not exist yet. I dont see why it seems to be difficult for you to imagine a state that you have already basically 'experienced'.
Well, now - that's a load of crap from facts not in evidence.

You have no more knowledge of the pre-life than you do of the after-life, yet you live in a sad pretense that you do.

My only thesis is that I am more than meat - and that when the energy we call "life" leaves my body, energy does not - as you impute - simply cease to exist.

I fully support the pragmatic notion that some humans probably require religion for them to act civilized. I have no issue with that.

Who is requiring religion?

He is. It's what his arguments, provided by others more clever than himself, are geared to address.

When someone confutes his talking points WITHOUT advancing any religious view, he becomes like an adolescent making his first reach for boob - a tad awkward, a tad unschooled.

He made a real mess of trying to confront me as if i were making an alter call for Jesus, or trying to convert him to Islam. Poor kid - the cool kids don't prepare ya for a man with a cannon.

It's a long way from insisting that math always works, to making affirmative statements to the negative about an unknown which you cannot prove.

You speak from pure, unadulterated faith, son - about both any potential after-life and any potential pre-life. The objective truth is that you do not know and you cannot know. But the feces from your mouth is that you DO know and CAN know.

You compare that drool to 2+2 is not equal to 5?

Kid, you are one HELL of a lot closer to 2+2=5 than is the person to whom you condescended with that puerile can of ready claptrap.

You in college? Second year? Don't let Ayn Rand fuck with your head, kid - someone is gonna turn you on to her soon. She was a desperate, man hungry lipstick whore - don't let the tortured intellectual act fool you.

Matthew 25:40-41King James Version (KJV)

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

I espoused no religious view.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail, kid.

Good luck with your simple formula for "winning" - next time. It failed you this time, meat boi.

the 'nail' here is that you are apparently unable to really grasp the concept of an emergent property.

There are, of course, superstitious savages who would probably think that if I play chopin on a piano, that the music is somehow trapped inside the piano, and if the piano is destroyed the music would 'go somewhere'...as 'energy' or something. Its perfectly fine for you to accuse me of arrogance that I dismiss this sort of thinking. It is indeed a sort of arrogance. But naturally, that doesnt make it wrong.

There are some movies that I watched that seem very unfulfilling at the end. It seemed there was some kind of a story line that just stops with loose ends and questions. Being unhappy with that, I go away wanting/expecting a little more.
Everyone has watched a movie like that at some point.

That is where the need for an afterlife seems to be.
It lies in the same sort of wanting/expecting a little more.

Religions utilize this but it doesn't take religion to feel this.

No, son, the nail is that you answered a religious objection, even though I didn't make one - revealing an acute case of short man syndrome. You have some grudge against religious types, clearly - and you have constituted yourself as a fight about religion, looking for a place to happen.

I'm not that place, kid. I give two shits what your faith is. You are welcome to cling to the cross of atheism, and Nothing bless you.

Gonna stop ya there, kid.

You have insisted that you have specific knowledge of our pre-birth condition.

You have insisted that you have specific knowledge of our after-death condition.

You have presented zero evidence, asserting each of these as articles of faith.

You are in no position to call anyone a superstitious savage - though I'm sure you have plenty of lurid fantasies about "savages."

The dick, son. You're gonna wanna get off that dick.

Just let it go. One last la la la up the shaft and over with - walk away.

from what i recall.....and i can only describe it from a way later experience as a passenger in a car accident, unhurt

the moment is swift and there is a somewhat jarring jolt.....then you feel this soft pillow...like an airbag gently hit your face.....and then a swift powdery puff of smoke in a very hazy fog slipping away and an intense buzzing feeling all over

Find out what an airbag really is first. Bad analogy.

Nothing "gentle" about it at all.

The concept of infinity escapes definition within the human brain.
Unending timeframe and volume become anyone's guess.

To argue for or against a hypothetical of this magnitude is beyond me.
You two must have an ongoing pissing contest. Have at it.

Who is requiring religion?

1. Big bang evolution violates 5 separate scientific laws.

2. Old Earth is a myth. Carbon 14 is found in diamonds. After 60,000 years there is no detectable carbon 14.

3. Soft tissue has been found in dinosaur bones.

4. Age of Earth - 101 Evidences of a Young Age of Earth and Universe

With all of this and much more scientific information about the age of the earth and evolution proven false. Therefore following God is a requirement. There is really no other choice without big bang evolution. Dawkins said evolution gave him a reason to reject God. Since evolution is false that leaves God.
