Under raygun, foreign aid rose from $10 billion to $22 billion. Every year, Reagan asked for more foreign-aid money than the Congress was willing to spend. He also pushed through Congress an $8.4 billion increase in the U.S. "contribution" to the International Monetary Fund. RAYGUN WAS A COMMIE!!!

Nice strawman. What Reagan did, or did not do is irrelevant to the thread, and the discussion here.

But it is more proof that there isn't much difference between the two establishment parties (Tea Party Republicans excluded). And that you are brainwashed by the left-right paradigm.

That's the problem with liberals. They think they own everyone else's kids.

It is my career to educate children. It isn't a 'job'. Do you understand the difference?

Support your claim that I think I 'own everyone else's kids'.

How is it okay for you to judge me without knowing what I do? How can you point fingers at all Liberals, without ONCE asking how I work with students?

Is it okay to make blanket statements? YES or NO

so what? That doesn't mean it's your job to see to that they get an education. That's the parents job. And this is a big part of why parents are pulling their kids out of public skrewels. Because they have alienated the parents so much.

Just look at this for proof that liberals think the kids belong to the state moreso than the parent-

Oh, my god...IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY, you NITWIT. As an educator, it IS my responsibility to see that the children with whom I work get an education.

I don't foist that responsibility off on a home-tutor, I don't stay on a chat board all fucking day complaining about things I am unwilling to take on myself--I WORK WITH CHILDREN IN THE CLASSROOMS.

Why do you have zero respect for those parents who choose to send their children to public schools?

'So what'?!

Sorry. As much as you would like to think everyone elses kids education is your responsibility, it isn't. It is up to parents to see to it their kids are properly educated. Parents are the ones who decide to let their kids go to pubic schools, or not.

You are simply the tool they allow them to be educated with. I'm not really surprised that you, a Pubic Skrewl teacher, is to stupid to figure this out.

When someone is obligated and fails, there must be redress or the obligation is rhetorical.

If the parent fails, what is society's redress, son? Or were you only being rhetorical? :)

When it comes down to it, it's really not that far of a reach.

Definition of tool (n)
device for doing work:
an object designed to do a specific kind of work such as cutting or chopping by directing manually applied force or by means of a motormeans to end:
something used as a means of achieving something
something used for job:
something used in the course of somebody's everyday work

You didn't actually answer the question.

You determined that, in answering in a particular way ("Yes. Of course society has an interest in educating it's children."), you would violate some of the terms of your ideology, thus damaging some of your own perceived freedoms.

It requires a seriously warped view of one's relationship to everyone else in America to deny that educating kids isn't the job of us all, and that any family could simply "opt out" of education because of some exotic political worldview.

I AM a trained debater - a master at it, if I may pound my own back.

That's why I cornered him - I spotted the easy, habitual cowardice of his rhetorical device, and called him out. :D

It's not an either/or.

Many states have standardized testing for home schooled kids, and tons of resources to help them do a great job.

Continually using a Lush Rimjobism ("skrewel") is not making you look like much of an independent thinker. It automatically implies you're taking your cues from right wing media rather than any personal conviction.

That's how I took it, maybe you did so differently - or he meant it differently. Couldn't tell ya.
