Relax...that comment was about the readiness of these people to go after non-participant family members whenever they are having their ears pinned back.

As a father, I don't want my daughter to be told what she may or may not do, simply as a function of her gender. Were Scouts to be "integrated", I don't think the world would end. Scouts, judging by the rather sordid history, are at greater risk from nominally heterosexual adult supervisors than they are from female contemporaries.

If women can be marine fighter pilots, WTF, right?

I agree about the daughter comments and I shut them down.
I have had my share of those comments as well. I know how you feel.
I have also had a certain poster comment about my 'nigger grandkids'.
That poster is dead to me. I will never respond to him again.

I agree that the world wouldn't end. But, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are institutions that should stay the same.
There are co ed scout programs out there.

I don't want my daughter to be told that either. My point to you originally was that your daughter should maybe work to change the rules regarding duties at the frat an sorority so it is more equitable instead of crashing the frat. Also, those institutions, like Scouts, are optional.
I admit I can be less than eloquent at times. :)

These institutions don't lend themselves to that kind of reform......I was a freshman the first year my high school committed to co-ed.....my roommate there went on to Dartmouth, where frats were the center of everything, and was a freshman the first year THEY admitted a quota of women. My friend was active in the movement to go directly to equal access, and also agitated for the abolition of the frat system. Dartmouth relented relatively easily in the first instance, but the war goes on over the second....and we are talking DECADES later.

What is wrong with Girl Scouts? They do all the same shit as the Boy Scouts.
I don't get it.

According to BSA, it was in response to parents saying they wanted one-stop shopping for their children's scouting needs. According to every victim-wannabe in Rightardia, it is more of the liberal PC plot to weaken America by destroying our Purity Of Essence.

What about the programs out there that are co ed?

I was merely reporting the BSA explanation for what they did, and how Deplorables will make themselves a victim of it. I don't have much of an opinion on this one, although I did think Neoconvict had a good point about the girls' only version lacking something of the Eagle Scout prestige that can offer real-life benefits.

See that BV? A Deplorable said something not stupid! You said it couldn't be done.

Gotcha. I was only in Girl Scouts until about 8th grade, so I don't know how high their honors go.
I do know Eagle Scout looks damn good on resumes and college applications.

Neo is a good one. I think you will find a lot to agree with from him.
Although he thinks there is no racism so......

No they don't, but there is something to be said for staying the course.
If the girls' programs don't have the same opportunities and activities, it's up to the girls in those programs to change that.
Asking for the boys' programs to be abolished just looks like a tantrum.

I don't know that it abolishes it any more than going co-ed abolished my high school....it changes it, but I can't figure out why separate but equal is so critical to Scouting....

Just calling a spade a spade....

Can you think of an instance in which it was misapplied?

Every time, imbecile.

You stupidly claimed that Bush's tax hike caused the Great Recession. That has zero basis in actual Economics.

What School of Economics postulates that raising taxes helps economic growth?

One word. Name the School.

In your view, is there ever ANY reason that a male-only organization can exist?

You appear not to understand my point.....

I don't have anything against guys insisting that they must remain cootiefree......I just ask whether it is necessary.

My daughter has no interest in football, but if she was able to put it through the uprights from the 45 on a consistent basis (having watched the UT kicker shank a close potential game winner last weekend), why wouldn't you want her to?

The persistent zeal you show in pursuing this led me to ask.
I am asking from the perspective of seeing so many things that seem to be "targets" just because they exist. If I had a daughter that can find no other outlet for things she wanted to do, I would seek those outlets as best I could. I get that.
On the other hand, when the GIRL Scouts already exist, why must my boys be put through some experiment in social engineering to sate the girls taste for things not in her Scouts? Why not make the GIRLS up their game? Then at some point all could enjoy what they really want or need.

If it were the only golf course in your tri-county and it was men only, it fairly obvious what to do.
Choice to build another 5 million dollar course or open up the existing facility is an easy choice to make.

But to "corrupt" one Scout Org. and let the other go "unimproved"...? Seems a bit targety to me.

There is nothing wrong with that. We are not discussing sports. But since you brought it up, by the same token, of your daughter was on a girls soccer team, do you want boys who are stronger, faster, and more physically developed competing against her?
