I for one believe that going into Iraq was the right thing to do at the time. It's a maddening position to take when it seems both Bush bashers and supporters alike have been struck with a bad case of amnesia. The popular narrative is that Bush lied to get us into war and everyone bought it. Well the fact is, there was a slue of bipartisan support for our going into Iraq and it was not based solely on US Intelligence.
I could address individually all the talking points about the war that we're all sick of; yellow cake uranium that didn't exists, Haliburton's exemption from the bidding process, soldiers getting electrocuted due to faulty wiring in US barracks...the list of fuck ups goes on and on.
But at the top of the fuck up list is Paul Bremmer. Bush put him in charge to rebuild Iraq and the first thing he did was to dismantle the Bathists party which in turn left no one to run the infrastructure of the country.
Here's what we DID do right:
For starters the war ended the almost decade long Iraqi sanctions that were in place throughout Clinton's 8 years. The Iraqis weren't allowed basic supplies such as band aids and antiseptics. The World Health Organization estimates that over 500 thousand women and children died as a direct result of the sanctions.
For this reason alone, I contend that the war was a just war. And regardless of its outcome, which went from bad to worse thanks to Obama, symbolically it was the right thing to do.

Hitler conquered more than two dozen nations - not one became a failed state. And he MADE money off them.

Hitler was smarter than bush.

You defend a guy that was dumber than hitler, son.

That works as well. You're stickling over a preference, not a rule.

A man that knows no peer - a champion that ruled for many a year - just bested a man that did recently appear - a man that we all suspect is a queer.

That's you, in that last part.

The queer, I mean.

I'm the other guy - the one THAT bested the queer. :) :D

Even when I considered myself a liberal I couldn't help but generally defend bush. The Iraq war was a pretty natural and obvious thing to do considering that 911 proved that mideast anti American sentiment could not really be contained. His only real failure imo was his weak execution of the occupation and I can really forgive him for legalizing torture which caused the us to lose the moral high ground. But such mistakes are human.

I think that minus the Horrible Iraq war, the using our Treasury like a f***ing atm machine, and the idiotic Wall Street bank bailouts, that W was a halfway decent President. I also feel that Bush tarnished the conservative label. I mean I don't get what you are trying to conserve? The Iraq war, the Patriot Act? Bank bailouts?

That's why I prefer the term "right winger."

Bush bashing is always warranted.
He ushered in the coup which took over post 9eleven.
Now we live in hell, as will generations to come until
the revolution arrives. We'll likely be dead and gone
and the outcome may be worse than what we exist in
currently.

Sounds like you're going to pass your Bush Derangement Syndrome down to your family. I'm sure they'd prefer you just leave them some dough.
