A few years back I read a book called A Hypnotists Case Book, a compilation of cases from the late 1800's. It was written by a Doctor who had seen, as entertainment, a stage demonstration on hypnotism, and wondered if there was anything to it. He examined into the methods of inducing trance for his medical practice, so that his patients would relax and not fear what they were about to experience in an operation. He began to realize that an individual had a subconscious mind that would respond to his queries; and that the subconscious mind knew things that the conscious person did not. He wrote of an incident of a patient who had lost something at a school. He put the patient at ease, and then began to work on his mind until the patient was no longer responding as himself, but through his own mind. Then he told the patient to go to the schoolyard. He responded that he was already there. The Doctor wrote in his diaries that he was puzzled at this response; that the patient was in his office, and not at the schoolyard. He asked the patient how could this be. The patient responded that the subconscious mind was everywhere. The Doctor made a note of this, and continued on with the patient and found what he was looking for at the school.

Unless they think there are no consequences to the living of this life, I would certainly think they would fear it.

I think there are many afterlives and many lives we have lived before this one.

All are one. The killer and the killed. The rapist and the victim. The mother and the father and the child. What you do to the least of your brethren you are doing unto God, you are doing unto yourself. Think we are all connected.

well i guess it would be nice if there was a nice afterlife, and i guess it would be bad if there was a bad afterlife. I have no desire to believe anything at all...i believe things that seem probable and I dont believe things that seem improbable. A lot of truths are quite horrible, and thats just how truth is. The only desire i have at all regarding truth is that i want my beliefs to be as close to truth as possible.

Afterlife seems quite probable and its absence seems improbable, logically speaking. Energy doesn't disappear - the energy which leaves this body upon its death goes somewh

I will ask his higher self to join with my higher self to cleanse the bad energy and allow him to open his mind.

Okay - where is consciousness seated in the body - what part of the brain will I find it in if I dig with a spoon?

You can parse all ya want, but when that "consciousness" (energy, spirit, soul) leaves the body, it's meat. What leaves it - choose a name that warms your cockles - IS NOT MEAT.

consciousness is an emergent property. This is like asking what part of a piano a chopin nocturne is stored.

Im sure you dont recall any memories before your birth. Thats because your consciousness did not exist yet. I dont see why it seems to be difficult for you to imagine a state that you have already basically 'experienced'.

Well, now - that's a load of crap from facts not in evidence.

You have no more knowledge of the pre-life than you do of the after-life, yet you live in a sad pretense that you do.

My only thesis is that I am more than meat - and that when the energy we call "life" leaves my body, energy does not - as you impute - simply cease to exist.

I recall having memories before my birth but they have faded over the years. I also have had experiences with prophetic dreams. Dreams where I am doing something mundane with people I would not meet for years later in an unfamiliar setting.

I fully support the pragmatic notion that some humans probably require religion for them to act civilized. I have no issue with that.

I espoused no religious view.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail, kid.

Good luck with your simple formula for "winning" - next time. It failed you this time, meat boi.
