Thank you for asking. In doing so, you reveal much.
What it is NOW, besides a geopolitical set of boundaries, is host to a corporocratic, anti-state, anti-national globalist cancer - the folks who own both parties and get power from so-called "trade deals.".
And you are one of the folks who ballyhoo for that cancer, while screeching like a size queen against the United Nations - as monkey-trained by your corporate masters.
One would think that GLOBALISTS would just love the UN, would one not? But no - they hate it, because it represents NATIONS. And NATIONS represent their citizens, at least nominally, and their national interests, most emphatically. And, you see, the interests of nations and the interests of supra-national corporations perforce, inevitably, by definition
Now, I am not singing the praises of the UN - it has been overtaken by Gorites. But nationalism is the only antidote to globalism, and nationalism abhotrs
adventuring on behalf of the global corporatocracy. And those who - like yourself - parrot the squawking points of that corporatocracy are accessories to the murder of the nation state by the corporatocracy which has co-opted your minds, using bumper stickers and cartoon thinking.
As the world's human population overcomes more physical and communication boundaries, and as the people in general co-mingle across national boundaries more and more, maybe the Luddite in you is facing a real dilemma. Globalism or globalists are just a symptom of the inevitable. I don't like it much either.
The UN is just another set, or layer, or filter by which to sort and catalog the numbers (us).
The references to set, layer, filter (there are more) come from CATIA CAD/CAM btw.
You can sort to display a dizzying array of data sorted in multiple ways, manipulate it and overlay other designs as well.
I am afraid that I see it as an appropriate comparison. Race, creed, nation, age, sex, functional value, etc.
We are heading that way and your great-grandmother's yogurt recipe is going to be swallowed up as are all things quaint and cherished.
We can fight back in some way but it is happening beyond any one person, group, or nation's control.
Languages are disappearing (becoming dead) everyday.
"As many as half of the world's 7,000
languages are expected to be extinct by the end of this century; it is estimated that one language dies out every 14
days. Endangered languages, much like endangered species of plants or animals, are on the brink of extinction.

The world is headed towards (not away from) a one-world scenario. Whether it is big business, governments, technology or all of them doesn't really matter.
I don't like it but I'll be long dead before chips are implanted (it will be something way less intrusive and innocently "beneficial").
That language thing speaks volumes... Something wicked this way comes.
