I liked the forum.  It was a good place to debate for many years.  Maybe it's the platform or the hosting that creates problems. I don't know.  At one time Kfools had a decent crew running the place.  When the guy who owned it prior to Kfools had it, it seemed to run pretty well.  Now, with all of the month-long shutdowns, of course no one is interested.

The previous guy let it go down just as kfoo has done - even lost a **** ton of content. Then his admin - a guy named chunk - demonized misty, and lied to the board that she was responsible for the missing content, having deleted said content as part of a hissy fit. 

I lost quite a number of iconic threads in the deal, and I left in a huff. Misty and A.L. were senior mods there - now they are senior mods here. I was a senior mod there. Now I'm admin, which is just like a senior mod, but with an orange screen name and an even bigger chip on my shoulder.

What was Chuck's motivation in lying about Misty?  Did that ever come out?  I was around back then, but never paid too much attention to the Mods.

Anyway, seems like there's always drama between members and Mods.  As if having an occasional post deleted really matters!  I suppose it really matters to some folks.

Honestly, I just don't want to be a forum owner, especially an owner of a political NHB forum.  Right now in my life, it's just not a wise idea.  I like being a member than can simply post content - occasionally decent content, mostly childish, *******-worthy content.  Plus, I do not have the technical expertise to know exactly what is wrong with the Dot-Org platform or how to fix it.  Something tells me it's not an easy fix. 

However, if I were to be partners with someone on something like this, I've seen your demeanor long enough to know you'd be a great partner. I would trust you and/or Impartialobserver to be good business partners.

I think it’s really just about money

Bottom line, perhaps.  But, in the short term it would be about consistency and predictability, then gaining a sizeable core group of members and continually driving good new content to the site.  To be fair, Kfools, when he was interested, really tried to drive content.  He tried the live debates and other things that hadn't been tried.

If it gets too wonky, people lose interest.  If its all fat and no meat, then people lose interest.
