Florida's high court has rejected an appeal from a death row inmate known as the "ninja killer" ahead of his scheduled dirt nap next week.
Louis Gaskin was convicted of first-degree murder for killing Robert and Georgette Sturmfels on Dec. 20, 1989, in their home in Flagler County. He was also convicted of armed robbery, burglary and attempting to murder another couple who resided nearby that same night.
Items the hood rat stole from the Sturmfels' home were found at his residence. He intended to give the items to his girlfriend for Christmas.

KS cops ‘chased’ elderly man for driving 3 mph over speed limit then tased him, lawsuit says
.
In his federal lawsuit, John Sigg said a lieutenant with the Iola Police Department in Allen County on April 16, 2021, clocked him driving 38 mph in an area where the speed limit was 35 and decided to give “chase.” Multiple police vehicles followed Sigg for a few minutes as he drove to his family’s car lot, although he did not realize he was “the subject of the pursuit,” his attorney wrote. He parked, got out and was surrounded by officers from several agencies.
Two Chanute police officers pulled their guns on Sigg, according to the lawsuit. Looking “quizzically” at them, he raised his hands, which can be seen in a screenshot of body-camera footage of the incident. “Get on the f—ing ground,” a now-former deputy with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office yelled, according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District of Kansas.
Without warning, the deputy used a Taser on Sigg — even though the manufacturer of the TASER X2 warns about using it “on the elderly,” his lawyer wrote. Sigg dropped “like a rock,” his attorney said, and cut his head. Other cops at the scene knew the deputy used excessive force and “were concerned by his conduct,” the lawsuit alleges.

Massachusetts men with speed of 'NASCAR pit crew' allegedly stole 470 catalytic converters worth $2 million

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the seven men were arrested Wednesday morning after many months of investigation. Police said the men stole 471 catalytic converter car parts worth at least $2 million in Massachusetts and New Hampshire between 2022 and 2023.
Investigators noted that they believe a significant number of additional thefts have not been identified or were not ever reported to law enforcement. The department stated that the FBI and nearly 80 police departments were involved in the investigation, dubbed "Operation Cut and Run." Catalytic converters are a component of a vehicle’s exhaust device that reduce the toxic gas and pollutants from a vehicle’s internal combustion engine into safe emissions, and are required on all combustion engine automobiles in the U.S.
Catalytic converters are valuable on the black market since they are made using rare metals, including palladium. According to the Massachusetts State Police, the converters are worth about $1,000 apiece on the black market.

Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died from the effects of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner reported on its official website. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
Though no other contributing cause of death is listed in the coroner’s report, Coolio had...recent phencyclidine use.

Palmer said Verdoga was later identified as the driver after officers located items that tied him to the vehicle. Palmer said officers found a loaded firearm that Verdoga is accused of discarding as officers made contact with him.

He was also found to be in possession of and transporting an AR pistol, two loaded pistols, a silenced HK22lr (semi-automatic rifle), a F&N SCAR assault rifle that had been reported stolen, two other assault rifles one of which did not have a serial number, 14 high-capacity magazines, scales and packaging material, according to the release.
