Refuse to insure new construction in areas that are clearly threatened because of bad drainage and low elevation.
DeSantis has not even mentioned that this is a major concern, which it is. He is elected to solve problems such as this, while I am not.
Instead he ignores them to persecute Drag Queens and force teachers to remove books from school libraries.
Disney is not a concern for Floridians.
They rarely mention the reason why DeSantis declared war on Disney.
It was not mostly because Disney opposed his stupid "never say gay" law.

No.
It was because Disney declared that it would no longer donate to ANY political campaign.
DeSantis is corrupt and a manipulative demagogue. He is bad for Florida and would be bad for the country.

So...
You support a governor to get involved in new construction and insurance rates?

Of course!  Why should average citizens subsidize the housing for fatcats-- many of them not citizens-- who choose to live on high rise towers on the coast that are prone to being destroyed by hurricanes and tidal surges?

I didn't realize, in FL, the governor had the authority to deny insurance coverage to specific projects?  Can you cite the FL law that gives him that authority?  After all, you are a resident of the state.

Should the governor subsidize housing for illegals?
Simple question...

MUCH better. He was not an addict.
All charges against him have been dropped.

No way Gillum would have started a stupid war with Disney, passed anti-gay, anti WOKE laws, appointed incompetent bumpkins as university presidents.
If he has done absolutely NOTHING he would have been an improvement over DeSantis.

Do, Desantis should refuse to insure new construction in low lying areas.
  • what construction does Ron Desantis now insure?
  • How will Ron Desantis' refusing to insure new construction in flood prone areas going to lower insurance rates for Floridians.

Really, so we take it you can provide a few examples of high rise towers that were destroyed by a hurricane or tidal surge in the last 20 years.

We'll wait...

Your second point is my point!

Somehow Xavier's insurance rates will go down in Miami if DeSantis refuses construction in Jacksonville?  (And I'm not sure if he can)

Basically, Xavier is saying that nothing should be constructed along Florida's coastal regions.  But, this just shows that Xavier doesn't have a clue about the problems of getting insurance in Florida (has nothing to do with flooding, because flood insurance is separate), and has no clue what code requirements new construction is required to meet if in coastal or flood areas.  He's an old man living in an old highrise in Miami.  All of Miami and Miami beach were built on limestone and spoil islands back before the 1960's.  The place is screwed because builders screwed it up nearly 100 years ago.

If I lived in Miami, then I would live on a boat with a good, strong, cold  A/C !!
It gets very hot & very muggy down there.   About like New Orleans.
I went down there 10-15yrs. ago.    To check-out a good sailboat.  Seaworthy, strong,
ocean-going.   Southern Cross 28.  The kind of boat a good, smart, gutsy, sailor
could take to Honolulu.  The eng. was bad & I could not get the right price.
Stayed 2-days, got drunk, & went back to Biloxi.   Drove about 800mi......for nothin'.
