We’re working with @MCASBeaufortSC to locate an F-35 that
was involved in a mishap this afternoon. The pilot ejected safely.
If you have any information that may help our recovery teams locate the F-35,
please call the Base Defense Operations Center at 843-963-3600.

True story
Being a good son of the rolling prairies my father loved to burn his fields.
On the same afternoon Daddy lit a good sized field
an F-104 Starfighter over Illinois developed trouble and the pilot ejected. The plane kept right on flying West, until it reached Arnica Missouri where it crashed in the woods.
Meanwhile back at Bug Tussle, Daddy said the big helicopters were down low over his head and he waved his wet gunny sack at them and kept on tending his fire.
But when they landed and soldiers jumped out with rifles wanting to know where the plane was, Daddy asked to speak with the leader, who told him they were chasing a lost Starfighter.
About that time they got a call the plane was down by Arnica and off they swooped, and Daddy kept on burning the field.
He was just glad they weren’t Game Wardens.
Game Wardens make a big deal over lighting fires.
